A Busy Few Months
It has been quite some time since we last posted a news item on the Ability Focus website. Thankfully, we have simply been too busy to commit to writing updates since early spring, but our hope going forward is that we will be publishing more regular articles over the summer months.
Over the past few months there has been an increase in the interest of progressive Irish organisations when looking at disability inclusion. As we edged slowly and cautiously out of a very dark winter, and confidence increased in an expected return to normality, we saw an increase in organisations in both the public and private sector looking to deliver disability awareness training to their staff.
Coupled with this were the companies we worked with from the dark days of post-Christmas lockdowns who, regardless of the uncertainty which lay ahead, continued with their drive forward to include disability within their organisation through disability awareness training.
We were delighted to work with some of the most inclusive and respected organisations in Ireland, such as Vodafone and Bord Bia who really stood out to us as organisations who had such a wholehearted commitment to ensuring disability awareness training was delivered with maximum effect to interested colleagues. It was an absolute pleasure to work with both of these organisations and it really is easy to see why organisations such as Vodafone and Bord Bia are held in such high esteem.
Organisations who truly want to be inclusive of disability always stand out to us. The conversations we had with Niamh McGarty and Elaine Kelly in Vodafone, and Susan Doyle and Lisa Martin in Bord Bia were both interesting and collaborative. There was such a genuine interest in how they can best deliver disability awareness training to their colleagues.
As we move slowly out of the pandemic, and the summers acts as our intermediary between covid and the new normal, more organisations will look to create awareness of Ireland's most diverse group the disability awareness training. It will be a while yet before we are back on site, shaking hands and delivering training in person but the adjustment to Live Online Disability Awareness Training has been taken up well by many organisations, so we fully expect this trend of live online training to continue into the future.
Quite simply put, there are too many benefits to Live Online Disability Awareness Training for many organisations to simply shelve it once we have all been safely vaccinated.
We are very much looking forward to working with organisations who are interested in delivering disability awareness training to their staff over the summer months.
