Ability Focus is now an accredited CPD provider!
We are delighted to announce that Ability Focus has achieved CPD accredited status for our Live Online Disability Awareness Training Programme.
This is the first time in Ireland that a disability awareness programme has been awarded independent CPD accredited status, resulting in all participants receiving accredited certification on completion of the programme. We hope this will act as a greater incentive for professional networks across Ireland to include disability awareness training as part of their CPD requirements.
We have long believed that disability awareness training should be a core part of every professional network's continuing professional development. By delivering CPD accredited disability awareness training, we are aiming to promote and encourage a more positive understanding of over 640,000 people in Ireland, in both a personal and professional context.
It was with this vision in mind that we started the process of securing recognised CPD accreditation for our disability awareness training programme in late 2020.
Having achieved membership status, Ability Focus began working with the leading independent CPD provider in Ireland and the UK - The CPD Certification Service, to ensure our Live Online Disability Awareness Training Programme met the CPD Certification Service's criteria for accreditation.
The CPD Certification Service is a cross sectoral independent certification body whose membership include BNY Mellon, Financial Times, LG, Mitsubishi, HSBC, Sage, Starbucks, amongst many others, including a host of recognised educational institutions.
Over the course of five weeks, we liaised with the CPD Assessment Team, resulting in our Live Online Disability Awareness Training Programme becoming the first ever programme of its kind in Ireland to receive independent CPD accreditation.
Programme participants whose networks require CPD points can now use our Live Online Disability Awareness Training towards their professional development credits.
At Ability Focus, we strongly believe in the importance of mainstreaming Disability Awareness training. Training of this kind has rarely been seen as a core aspect of organisational development in Ireland. With CPD accreditation, it can now be viewed as a core part of individual professional development.
Since establishing Ability Focus in 2019, we have secured professional body endorsement from the Irish Institute of Training & Development (IITD) who have recognised our programmes for 'excellence, best practice and innovation in the field of learning and development'.
And now, through securing recognised independent accreditation for our Live Online Disability Awareness Training Programme there is an added layer of incentive for individuals and organisations to look at disability awareness, not as an optional extra when considering learning & development initiatives, but as a core facet of modern, progressive Continuous Professional Development.
