Client Profile: The Health Research Board
In the fourth instalment of our Client Profile Series for 2022 we profile The Health Research Board
The Health Research Board (HRB) is a State Agency under the Department of Health. They support and fund health and social care research and provide evidence to inform policy and practice. They have a staff of 75 and the main areas of activity are funding research proposals and managing grants, conducting evidence reviews to underpin decision-making in health and managing data collections in the areas of alcohol and drug treatment and deaths, disability and psychiatric admissions and discharges.
It was an honour for Ability Focus to be selected by The HRB to deliver Live Online Disability Awareness Training to such a highly regarded organisation as part of their Action Plan on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Training was delivered to colleagues across the entire organisation through our customised disability awareness training programmes in spring 2022. We delivered six virtual programmes over the course of two weeks to six engaged groups.
Training covered a range of areas including diversity within disability, disability etiquette with a particular focus on anti-discrimination, legislation and the provision of reasonable accommodations for colleagues.
It is always great to see organisations go beyond their obligations to deliver disability awareness training and to truly embrace disability inclusion as part of organisational practice.
Having worked with The HRB it was great to get such positive feedback from Jess Gaughran and the team who provided Ability Focus with a comprehensive analysis and review of training from all those who attended. It was great to see training was so well received and we are genuinely very appreciative of such kind words highlighted below:
"As part of the HRB's disability action plan and equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives, we held organisation wide disability awareness training provided by Stephen from Ability Focus in early 2022. Stephen presents the facts and figures in a captivating way and has a great depth of knowledge in the area. It's no surprise that feedback from staff has been very positive and people are still talking about the training two months on. We look forward to working with Stephen and the Ability Focus team through 2022 and onwards."
We very much enjoyed working with The Health Research Board and very much look forward to delivering further training in the future.
