Training

Each Disability Awareness training programme has been formulated through assessment and engagement with business owners, human resource and talent acquisition professionals. We consulted continually with people with disabilities, valuing input from a range of experiences and backgrounds.

Private sector companies who provide Disability Awareness training for their employees may be eligible for grant assistance. This grant aid can cover up to 90% of the cost of the training.

We now offer Disability Awareness training online remotely, via our remote training platform. This half day training programme is divided into four 1-hour training sessions.

The Disability Awareness training programme gives a comprehensive overview of Disability Awareness through an interactive and informative training day.

It aims to address myths and misconceptions that employers and employees may have around disability. Topics covered include statistics relating to disability, types of disabilities, myths and assumptions, legislation, disability etiquette, barriers for people with disabilities, accessibility, discrimination, government grants and creating an inclusive society. Participants will also learn about the topic of Reasonable Accommodation and its relevance to employers.

This Disability Awareness training programme is aimed at:

• Organisations with front line staff who deal with the public daily.
• Organisations who have staff members with a disability.
• Organisations who have staff members who have recently acquired a disability.
• Human resource and talent acquisition teams.
• Line managers.
• Recruitment agencies.
• Public service bodies.
• Access teams.

On completion of this programme participants will have a strong foundation in understanding Disability Awareness. Participants will also have greater confidence and knowledge when engaging people with disabilities, both as service users and work colleagues.

Our Disability Awareness training programme can be tailored to specifically fit the requirements of each organisation. It is offered as a half or full day programme.

This training programme is tailored for line managers, human resource and talent acquisition teams in the public and private sector.

The aim of this programme is to provide a greater level of disability knowledge for human resource and talent acquisition professionals when engaging large- and small-scale recruitment campaigns. Stronger awareness of disability will ensure more equitable opportunities are offered to people with disabilities. There are four sections to this training programme:

Section 1 is a general introduction to all aspects of disability and aims to give participants a good general grounding of disability awareness.

Section 2 focuses on legislation with an emphasis on the acts that are relevant to disability employment in Ireland. We also take an in depth look into Reasonable Accommodation and its increasing importance in Irish law.

Section 3 focuses on the recruitment process, including job analysis, interview techniques, disclosure, and post hire support structures.

Section 4 focuses on employees who have acquired a disability as well as accessibility, and having an effective company disability policy in place.

This programme is suitable for company owners, access teams, line managers, human resource professionals or any employees tasked with ensuring a colleague with a disability has an appropriate support structure in place.

These are targeted programmes which are structured to specifically address the requirements and accommodations of the employee who has a disability and the staff member(s) supporting them.

On completion of this programme participants will have a greater general knowledge of disability. They will also be appropriately educated around the employee's disability. Participants will also have a greater understanding of relevant grants, return to work protocols, government supports and appropriate accommodations.

This Disability Awareness training programme gives a comprehensive overview of Disability Awareness through our online webinar platform.
