Tifco Hotel Group complete Disability Awareness Training in 2023

Through our CPD accredited and L&DI Endorsed live online instructor led delivery as well as our on-site training workshops Ability Focus have brought greater awareness of Ireland's most diverse group to thousands of colleagues across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe.

As 2023 progressed we continued our programme delivery delivering a wide range of programmes to local authorities, law firms, tech companies and the hospitality sector.
One large organisation we particularly enjoyed working with in 2023 was Tifco Hotel Group who committed to a wide-ranging disability awareness training initiative starting in June and finishing in September.
Tifco Hotel Group is Ireland's second largest hotel operator and is one of Ireland's largest operators for conference and meeting facilities. The group offer a combination of well-known hotel brands including Crown Plaza Hotels, Hilton Hotels, Holiday Inn and Hard Rock Hotels as well as other unique private label hotels across the country.
In May Ability Focus started the process of working Patrycja Zabawska - Group Learning & Development Manager for Tifco Hotels, with a view to delivering disability awareness training to staff from across the hotel group over the summer months.
Patrycja was hugely committed to ensuring a suite of programmes was developed which met the needs of staff from various departments across the group. We met with Patrycja several times and had regular contact through email as we organised a specific training plan where we considered a full training needs analysis, training objectives, training delivery with projected completion dates.
Starting in mid-June and finishing in mid-September Ability Focus delivered 7 programmes to participants from across the country tuning in from several Tifco hotels. 5 programmes focused specifically on Customer Focused Disability Awareness Training where the emphasis was placed on ensuring respectful service provision for hotel patrons who have a disability. Two more programmes were delivered to management and HR teams and these programmes placed an additional emphasis on reasonable accommodation, disability policies and related legislation.
On completion of training in September the Ability Focus team remarked on how hugely engaged participants from the various hotels were during each programme, and the management groups in particular stood out to us as a group that were especially interested in creating a disability inclusive workplace.
To the best of our knowledge Tifco Hotel Group is one of the first hotel groups in Ireland to offer a roll out of disability awareness training to staff and it was a genuine pleasure to work with an organisation which places disability inclusion at the heart of diversity and equality.
